Gingersnap, you seem like a very intelligent person, and I’ve observed many well-written posts from you, but I strongly suspect you and Joey have had some personal issues.
There are no losers in a political contest, just those with more votes than the others. Candidates put themselves in a glass bowl, work their rears off (often for a position that does not pay), put up with abuse (such as above), and have their families harassed. It’s not an easy task, and it’s a thankless job.
The only losers are the ones who throw rocks at them afterwards, as they don’t understand the process. It’s like me sitting in my La-Z-Boy, drinking ice water, and criticizing the football team I’m watching on TV, which I don’t. I couldn’t possibly do as well as them, much less, better.
Run a campaign and find out what it’s like; then throw rocks. (You won’t.) Otherwise, it’s a cheap shot.

Maybe they think its important for the citizen voters of eills county to know that a man running for DA has a very disturbing past. As a police officer he did a little personal sampling of a drug bust. Maybe they think a corrupt cop is not an ideal candidate for DA, I dont know some people might find that interesting.

This isn’t a newspaper, it’s the kids blog. He will say whatever he wants. He is not obligated to be fair, unbiased, or even honest. If you have an opinion and want to get it out there, start a blog, they’re free and relatively easy and evidently you can say anything on them and not be legally responsible. Hopefully no one pays any attention and you get to vent.

Agreed, but he does write for a newspaper, and has written hit piece after hit piece on rumors about Grubbs, but totally ignores the public record fact that the guy running against Grubbs was fired for being a dirty cop. That is a problem.

These are cases that I know the names of. Patrick Wilson told me personally of a ten year plea deal made with a man who had raped his three year old daughter simply because the three year old was incapable of taking the stand a telling how her father had brutallized her. Excuse me, skilled prosecutors successfully convict scum like this all the time and receive PRISON time as they so rightly deserve. Rumor or FACTS? I believe court documents have determined that answer.

Ginger, the interesting thing about my “hit pieces” is that those rumors about Grubbs WERE TRUE.
The stuff about the drugs, cocaine, etc., etc. about his opponent ARE NOT.

So, when Rodney decided to run for DA and put his whole life out there for everyone to see, it is more than fair to mention this story and the fact that he did take a lesser charge and lose his TCLOSE over this. And look, in the comments how Joey goes balistic on me for bringing up "urban legends", which are actually just good ole run of the mill facts.
And a general universal rule of thumb is that innocent police officers dont plead guilty to offical abuse charges and give up their TCLOSE because they don't want to spend the $10-15K that it would take to clear their name. Guilty officers do that, just a good rule of thumb.

My whole point in even posting that was to show the blatent inconsistecies with joey. Anything he hears bad about grubbs gets posted as truth because deep in his heart he believes it, and anyone who says anything bad about his candidate is just spreading lies and urban legends.

First, of the 707 votes, I'm sure several are the same idiots voting for him multiple times. It's not like he had 707 people who believed in his cause. Secondly, this is a TINY percentage of the population. In an election, you don't just get votes for who you are, you get votes for who you are NOT. You've seen the bumper stickers that say, "ANYBODY BUT ____" Yeah, that was pretty much written for Joey.
His MySpace numbers are laughable also. They are just hits. I had a myspace back in the day. I never posted anything on it but a single photo, my name, age, and location. I just checked it, and my nearly blank profile that has been inactive since 2005 or 6 has more than 60,000 hits. I have a following!!! Yay!
Also, you are stupid if you can't understand that PRINTING (like putting ink on physical paper) and distributing with the title of newspaper should require somebody to hold a high standard for fact checking prior to publication. When a "reporter" says something damaging that is false, it is really hard to take that off the record. Not that Joey probably ever bothered to print a retraction (again, not words on a computer screen, but words you can hold in your hand), but retractions are hardly ever read. Once it's out there ON PAPER, it's hard to take back. And, if you didn't know any better, what sounds like a more legitimate news source, Ellis County Observer or joeyisalittlekid.wordpress? Tough call, eh? You pick up a newspaper, and you may or may not understand that the reporter might be a little biased by his own perspective, but you assume that the words on the paper are all verified FACTS. You pull up some blog where the freaking title is an opinion and you expect opinion and commentary.
