Elliscountyobserversucks has allowed the paranoia to overtake them and they are pretty much shutting down the ECO sucks site. I have no idea what is going on at the ECO and who the hell is running it.
I'm not personally attached to either side here, I'm just a critic but I like to think that I try and be as fair as I can when doing so. So for those that would like to post about the Joey situation, or the ECO and have a fair and open discussion about it, fire away, I'm game for anything, and I'm not interested in trying to out anyone its what you say that is important to me, so fire away.
So how did the Farris lady get all that detailed info on the Church outing?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing, but I think she got it from Brandy. While Brandy has been quiet on the cyberspace front, she has gone out and done her own investigation of that incident and found some things that lead her to believe that Joey wasn't being completly truthfull with her in his orginal version of the story. And I commend Brandy for trying to find the real facts of the matter.

Even with all of this said, I am more sad that I feel like I have been manipulated and used by Joey. And he has dragged innocent people who are in to this for his own sake. Yes, I believe there is a victim. I am holding that it was consensual given the information that I have. I am so sick of this victim mentality and even mentioning personal responsibility makes me some kind of monster.
Well, I do and intend to keep teaching my children personal responsibility and the importance of ALWAYS maintaining their faculties, staying out of compromising situations and not allowing themselves to be “victims” of crimes of opportunity. If those people don’t understand that philosophy, I find it very difficult that they are highly educated, or have ever been advocates for children.
There is nothing about kiddie porn nor anything about Henderson County charges. PURE gossip.
Anthony requested a week or more ago that his stories be removed from the ECO and other FOTP group blogs. I obliged him and actually removed entire blogs not just articles for him. I have been on a house cleaning mission and all blacklisted users have been removed from comment moderation/blacklists.
I have not been involved with the ECO because I think Joey hung the moon or because I am a “Joey follower” but because it is a strong platform with analytics you can’t buy. It beats major news outlets at times with search engine results and maybe, sub-consciously or not, I knew a day like this might come and Joey would be in jail or dead and the ECO would be mine, Joey knew it too that is why it is in writing. So maybe, just maybe I used him like I feel like I have been used.

Yes, Brandy is personally familiar with that church site as well as sources at that site, this is why I think it was Brandy and not Barbara that found out all that info.

ReplyDeleteYou must be careful taking Brandy at her word. Remember the Baird's Bread story?? The ECO is filled with pathological liars. That never changes in a person. We all saw what the ECO was all about years ago. She KNEW of all his failings yet still supported him and the ECO.
She also says the ECO wil be/is hers to do with what she pleases. WELL, why doesn't she cut off the REAL lunatics over there. The only way she can really sieze control of the ECO is to take over the the admin 100%. lock everybody else out. Plus, and most importantly she must have control over the the domain name. Right now that is still in Joey's name and unless she has the password to his email account or proof SHE paid for the name and other documents, that site remains in Joey's control, or non-control as it is now.
I've been monitoring the developments and reading the reports, some true, some untrue. I've always appreciated Gingersnap, who almost seems to want to be a supporter, if Joey would realize his potential instead of focusing on nonsense. As for the facts of this case, those will come out through the trial.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if Joey's guilty. I also wouldn't be surprised if the accuser is lying. Let's just say I don't find either of them to be of impeccable character. But to be clear, if the alleged acts happened, then Joey is a criminal and the accuser is a victim, regardless of how the things happened.
Joey was in no way a youth leader; he was just there, and infrequently interacted with the younger members. I hope that the allegation is false, especially for the sake of the accuser and Joey's mother. It would hopefully teach Joey a lesson about dragging people through the mud, causing damage that can't be repaired. But it may be that Joey is incapable of learning lessons.
I always disagreed with Joey's belief that the court of public opinion is somehow superior to courts of law. I'm not a big fan of what Joey did, trying to validate claims simply by publishing them. I'm not a particularly big fan of what's happening here, discussing rumors and alleged facts about a criminal allegation in a case as yet unproven. But Joey always wanted attention, and now he's got it. His psychological state, sexual adjustment, perception of truth and reality - all are now open for public discussion due to his seeking to be a public figure.
I dont think Brandy knowingly lies. She does have a conspiratorial view of the world and as such she takes things as fact that normal critical thinkers would laugh at, such as her Baird's Bread story, I honestly beleve that she believes that story and still sticks to it.
ReplyDeleteI dont know who has all the password power over at the ECO, but Brandy claims to have the "super admin" and that seems to jive with what Curtis has said and whom I would think Joey would bequeath the ECO too. I dont know why she hasn't taken it over yet, my guess is things are just too hot right now, but I do think she will eventually take it over and control it. Thats speculation on my part, but it makes sense in my mind.
Does anyone know how many hits ECO gets a day?
ReplyDeleteI dont know, but whatever the number is probably contains a lot of readers who go on there everyday to see if they are the ones being slandared today, or their friends. If we were to narrow down the number to who actually goes on there for news, it would be a tiny fraction of the total number.

Curis believed in J Margetis, remeber he did his own investigation and thought JM was ok? We all thought he would see the light but no.......I quote Curtis Butler November 12,2011:

ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you could shed some light on this part of Joey's life, that being his involvement with this church as a leader of some sort and these church camp vacations? All I know is from what Joey posted on the ECO at the time, and while he constantly allowed Mr. Riley a forum to preach, Joey never really shed much light on his involvment in this church. How big was this? Was it based in Waxahachie? Why did it fall apart? This is all kind of a seperate life Joey had that was never talked about on the ECO.
So Brandy thinks that Joey is Gay or Bi and that this kid was a willing victim? Where under Texas law it doesn't matter because he was not aloud to make a sexual act decision with another person at 15? So it's considered sexual assault?

Joey has admitted to homosexual experimentation? I heard somebody say that. So is this the experiment? Or a pattern where there are many more victims? Joey is computer savvy or not? Apparently Rangers got email /computer evidence. Wouldn't he know better than to electronically contact a victim? Was the Red Oak seizure just to get verification information on the sexual assault case? Everbody says there are charges from Red Oak but they have not been made as far as I know. So Ironic that hes being chraged with a crime( that vehemently fought) at an outing by the Church( that he proclaimed to espouse his beliefs and values).

So he has this "incident" in 2007 which he knows could be potentially damaging to him so he devotes his life to his new passion of exposing pedohiles? Joey is innocent until proven guilty, yadda yadda yadda, but we can conclude, based on the texas rangers and grand jury that its about 95% likely that he is going to be convicted of something. Brandy says it was consentual, and I think she is right, but under the law thats not going to help Joey one bit.
I have knowledge of the situation, and am a possible witness in the trial, as such, I'm reluctant to discuss facts not publicly known. I commented only because I (foolishly or not) have less distrust now that the discussion is hosted here, by someone who seems to have no agenda other than the truth. It's a semi-newsworthy event (as evidenced by the media coverage), so it's my hope that some actual facts can give context to the inevitable discourse.
ReplyDeleteWhat's relatively public is that the congregation had a web presence, here: http://otwaxahachie.blogspot.com/ The address is in Waxahachie. The former leader, at the time a probation officer in Ellis County, married and moved away to his home town in another state. Joey controlled that online account and became an inactive member, which I assume is why they moved the account.
The congregation leader was an amazing teacher, who had a depth of insight that I appreciated, and I learned a lot from him. The present allegation (true or not) leaves a scar on the congregation, which already isn't exactly accepted as mainstream. My affiliation pretty much ended a few months before the former leader left, only because I studied under the best teacher I'd ever known for several years, and then was ready to move on. The congregation became smaller after he left.
As for Joey, he wasn't a leader or an elder, or even a particularly good student. He has his beliefs, and found a place where his beliefs were shared by others. I suspect it was for a somewhat noble reason that he discussed it publicly so little, not wanting to get the congregation involved in all of the drama of his life and "professional" pursuits.
The congregation was always small, and had no separate programs, such as for youth. The children played outside during free time, and were with everyone else during the lessons. The only "youth leaders" were the parents. At the campground, everyone mostly just went where they went, and expected that bad things wouldn't happen. There was little organization. The days and location were set, and we had lessons at particular times, but most of the time wasn't pre-planned.
I tried to answer your questions, and anyone could have attended and seen the things I described.
Joey's "worshippers" and "cult" aren't real things. He does have supporters. I'm one. I don't want to think that he did this, but I also won't disregard the possibility that he might have. Some people don't want to consider that someone they believe in could do bad things, but these people are foolish. We can never disregard a possibility that someone may have committed an act.
If Joey did this, I hope he'll accept a plea deal, and not put the victim through a trial. As I said, I wouldn't be surprised if the accuser is lying, but if he really is a victim, I honestly do wish him the best and would hope that he could move on with his life.
OK for starters my writing sucks but maybe I can give some insight. I read where it seems Barbara got her info from a friend of Joeys and a attorney who Joey sent info to.

As I have carefully worded myself, I have said I think there is a 95% chance they are going to convict him, or get him to plead to something, I dont know if he really is guilty or not. Those are two seperate things: acutal guilt and what he may end up pleading too. As I'm going to lay out in my next article, I think the DA (through several different actions) knew Joey was broke and would not be able to financially fight these charges effectivly which may have been why they decided to pounce on him now, 4 years after the event supposedly occured.

Its really hard to imagine. Very polite kid and respectful when he was younger. His mom is a sweetheart! When I ran into him later during ECP times and he was on this everybody is corrupt thing. "Well how do you know he is corrupt? what are the facts" Joey-"I don't know he just is. They all are! If you knew stuff I knew." Something wasnt rational and it seemed to turn self centered the more I watched his youtube stuff. I know he is innocent until proven guilty but he hasn't made any friends in LE. ReplyDeleteMy anger at Joey is directed towards his actions on the ECO, his slandering, his God complex so on. Thats where my problem with him arises. Now as to these charges, I really have no idea but as I'm saying I think they are going to get him convicted of something. I think you have to compartmentalize the two issues, that being your anger at Joey and these charges which we really dont know the whole story about. I would say this goes for the hacking as well. Does their hacking make Joey any more or less guilty? Not really, it just shows the kind of company he keeps.

ReplyDeleteYeah but Curtis here is my overall problem with JM, without getting into the details of each of his cases, he is a scammer and has been his whole life. He files court motions almost on a daily basis and its all related to his shady business practices that trace back over a decade. Sure, within some of those filings you might find a point here and there where an extreamly pissed off judge came down too hard or possibly even illigally on him, but when you get the birds eye view of what this man is about you undersand why they would and have zero sympathy for a man who's daily routine envolves scamming people through complitcated court proceedings.
