I want to take this opportunity to allow those that Joey Dauben or the ECO slandered over the years a chance to have their say. I'm not the legal or judicial system so I'm not going to say anything on the matter of what the real truth of your situation is, but we can all agree that if Joey did the story then the other side never had a chance to have their say. So, if you want, tell us when and what was said on the ECO and then give your side of the story so that all in cyberspace world can read it. I'll try and tack on your statements to this story so everyone can see it.
Here is a good one, and I think this will be the majority of cases and to why they don't usually want to relive it:
I am very close to 2 people employed by government agencies that were unfairly targeted and slandered by ECO. One article, written several years ago, was based on out right lies told to Joey by a disgruntled ex-government employee. The other article was written last year: Joey and one of his pals attempted to set this person up to be fired, then twisted the truth. Both subjects were aware of ECO articles, neither wasted their energy reading or responding to ECO. In both cases the people that know the subjects also know the truth and so do their employers. None of the information posted by Joey mattered to people that don’t know the subjects. If the subjects of Joey’s articles were to respond or tell their side of the stories, it would result in re-hashing and re-living all of the hurtful things that were said and done – I support their decisions to just let it go, both people I know still have their jobs. But, seems to me that people Joey wrote about that have been fired, had it coming and it was just a matter of time with or without Joey’s involvement. Texas is a right to work state: Joey would be subject to work interference law suits if someone is or was fired based on Joey’s lies or twisted truth.
The Ellis County Observer and Freedom of the Press Group LLP has been exposed to be nothing but trash and libel written by criminal thugs.
ReplyDeleteWhat else needs to be said by the victims about the "smears" that were done over there. The fact that the ECO and FOTG and its members have now been thoroughly exposed means they don't have to worry about explaining a thing.
The next step in this process is for the victims to just write to Wordpress, Google and other internet service providers that host the trash of ECO and ask that anything related to them be removed. These service providers will do that now. Slowly, the ECO will be a distant nightmare memory.
No need to perpetuate this crap by responding to their "trash." - That's why the ECO Sucks closed shop. The job is done.
I agee with this exept I think you underestimate the damage done by the ECO. This goes back for years and years and most of those people dont even know the latest at the ECO. I just know that Joey would not let his targets ever get a chance to tell their whole side of the story so I'm giving them that chance if they feel like it still needs to be told.
ReplyDeleteI don't underestimate the damage and I think if anyone feels they need to air it out, then they should. I just think the best thing is to work toward shutting down the ECO and never giving credibility to any of its "editors" again. Brandy Owen and Brannon Bridge were often much worse than Joey Dauben to me and to others.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Brandy Owen is backstabbing Joey Dauben right now says even worse things about her. She acts like NOW she is going to play "investigative reporter" and do it because Joey TRUSTED her? That's cruel. But they are all cruel so Joey deserves it and whatever comes to Brandy - she deserves it too.
I think as a woman and as a mother, her cruelty was even more pronounced. Just to watch how she's handled this mess with Joey has made me realized she is really mean.
I guess criminals never could trust each other though.
The other thing is, Gingersnap, people have always had the opportunity to respond to Joey Dauben. I mean, how hard is it to get a blog and write out your own version of events? Or put it on other forums?

This stupid game of Joey's could have been beat a long time ago. They aren't all that smart over there - they were all just willing to do things many normal people would consider criminal and appalling.
Well I dont know why they havent, and maybe they did set up blogs but it was never really linked right so most of us never read it. And to answer you question about why here, well I for one am curious. I have read a lot of bad things about people over the years from Joey and it was of course always one sided. I, and I think I'm just the one speaking up, but I think a lot of people who never post anything would be somewhat curious as to hear the rest of the story on a lot of these slandered indivduals that we have heard about over the years.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking about that, but he was so drive-by in the way he did things he was never patient enough to stay for the outcome, or if the outcome was something other than for the side he picked, he wouldnt cover it. Just trying to make a list of the people he slandered just in in 2011 would be too hard and exaustive. Thats why I'm just opening it up to anyone, tell us what was said and what your side of the story actually was (and maybe how it turned out in the courts or whatnot). Call it the reunion of those slandered by Joey Dauben.
ReplyDeleteI kind of know the Weavers through other people. Joey attacked them because of a ex daughter-in-law complaint about the grandmother showering with the kids.... Something like that. I know it did affect them but they are people of simple ways and a specific religous belief that is not of the norm. They are also suffering with a seriously ill grandkid. So I didnt know what to think about it but I imagine they went through some suffering over that.
ReplyDeleteI can name 4 different individuals or familes that I know of personally like that, most choose to completly ignore him as he is not worhty of a response, but at the same time they will also tell you about the damage done to them just by rumors and word of mouth.
ReplyDeleteOh, and it's all a temporary protective order - never have had a hearing - never. I have NEVER gotten to even present one damn thing. A temporary ex parte protective order lasting THIS long by my own attorney, using privileged information AGAINST me is so wild that I almost have no words for it anymore.

See when people go to Joey with their situations and ask him to keep it confidential he has a void out clause (in his own mind) that because he works for the FREEDOM of the press group he can go ahead and print your story as well as give it his own slant at his discrection. If you object to his printing of the story he will hide behind his junior jourlanist badge when in fact he is just a kid in granny's basement trying to wreck havoc with peoples lives
ReplyDeleteWhy should someone blog to defend themselves? Why should someone that was slandered/libeled by Dauben take time out of their lives to defend themselves to someone who had a hidden agenda. Civil action and/or harassment charges are the better option than making a public soap opera.
ReplyDeleteHe had no interest in facts, he wanted attention at all costs including the exploitation of children. He wasn't interested in defending against corruption, he was interested in covering his own ass and trying to create a persona that would make people want to defend him. People that he slandered shouldn't have to create a blog to defend themselves, that is what the courts are for. The people he defended were people that all seemed to have one thing in common, they didn't like the outcome in their court proceedings and decided that the only way to "win" was to win in the court of public opinion. Quite a few people that came to him were only interested in presenting one side...their side...as the truth. When someone he attacked responded, he edited their response or withheld information that they may have sent to him.
These people that have sent him photos and documents that allowed Dauben to slander others were/are violating court orders. People that want to provide peace to their children don't exploit them the way Dauben and his followers have. What kind of person allows their loved one to be used in this manner? The one person that I find the most offensive is Bedwell. She sees nothing wrong with what she has done regarding her child. What mother would continue to post their child's photo with articles alleging such heinous acts? What mother, and in her case, I am only speaking in the biological manner, knowlingly violates court orders regarding their child because they hold vengeance above their children's lives. I'm certain the DA in her case is aware of her association with Dauben and that she will more than likely have to answer to what he wrote on her behalf.
The internet is a wonderful thing...where else can a freak like Dauben mold himself to be a "journalist" without any education, manipulate complete strangers so that they would send him photos of their children while at the same time know that he is facing serious charges that could end up in many years in jail. Mix in the potential that he possibly may be facing child porn charges, the stakes for these people that sent him documents have suddenly spiked even higher. I still find it odd that during the last few months he was contacting numerous law enforcement agencies to report alleged misconduct of others after he was interviewed in October about these incidents that he was indicted for. Someone posted his twitter comment about not having money to fend off the latest attack in October so he knew something was coming down. He posted to his minions about "forget about hiring an attorney, hire me...I can do more for your case" and now looney people created a page to raise money so that he could get an attorney. Instead of sending Joey stamps, money or paper...maybe they should send him "pedophile defense for dummies". Maybe the multi-personality,, borderline personality disordered twins from the "Free Joey "/"Free the Innocent" can get him that book.
Innocent children deserve to live a normal, happy, childhood but because of delusional, mentally ill, idiotic parents that are blinded by vengeance, those children may end up dealing with embarassment or harassment for years to come. I can guarantee you that his crap is going to impact these cases that he "crusaded" for but it will not be the impact these so-called "loving parents" were hoping for.
To the blog owner, I hope you post new information regarding any new, potential charges regarding Dauben.

ReplyDeleteAnd i'm trying to run down the possiblity of any other charges coming from his raid in july, from what I know (from my sources) the Red Oak PD wont be pressing the charges but all of that evidence still sits with the ellis county DA and they are very tight lipped about what they may, or may not do with that.
Yes, it's true, the ECO is terrible about privacy and keeping their agreements with sources.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I want to re-emphasize this point: the freedom to speak out about what is happening in the courts is a good thing. Joey went about it the wrong way, but the freedom to fight the tyranny of those in power has always been protected by first amendment speech and we should never lose sight of how important that is.
Joey definitely over-reached, but he hasn't caused me as much harm as those others involved in my story have. And I don't see any of them facing jail time or public outcry on here. I know this blog is about Joey Dauben, but if you open it up to "victims of Joey Dauben and their stories" you are going to hear about a whole lot of criminal actions taking place beyond Joey.
Joey isn't responsible for all the horrible situations these people are in. Some stories ECO did actually happened to do some good. But Joey got so over the top arrogant and forgot all his ethics. Like what is happening in the legal profession and many other professions. Joey is a symptom of society's lack of ethics as a whole. Mainstream media has ethics that are aligned with the status quo. That doesn't equate to reporting truthfully all the time either. They are just more successful and pick the side in power.

ReplyDeleteI have met Joey and emailed with him about say....5 times starting as long ago as 2005. He hasnt done anything to me personally and we are on a nice cordial level. But, like I said, I dont like what he has done to others including people I know and as the years went on I saw him getting worse and worse. But no, he hasnt hurt me personally or I would write up my own story.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you think the charges amount to? Oral and anal sex between an adult and child fall under the definition of statutory rape. Statutory rape is a genetic term which encompasses the more specific charges in this case.
