Much like the final episode of Seinfeld, the DA in Joey's case will have the opportunity to put all that Joey has done over his career before the jury so they can understand the character of the man whose fate rests in their hands. That jury could hear about:
-Joey's lifelong crusade to slander public servants with little or even no facts or proof whatsoever. He called these people corrupt, pedophiles, and other kinds of sexual deviants. This eventually morphed into slander of any and every one, but it originally started with his target of public servants.
-Joey's shady secretive life and dealings with gypsy cops Michael Meissner and Jay Hoskins. This world involved homosexuality, under age porn production, and falsifying of official documents among other things and Joey was caught in bed with Meissner.
-His years as a "business man" where he engaged in cybersquatting. He and his partners preyed on customers looking for a particular, legitimate, business online but instead got caught into their evil spider web of lies and deceit. Courts proved that this financially harmed both the customers and businesses and Joey was slapped with massive judgments of which he completely ignored. Joey, like the good prostitute that he was, did this and took on the judgments while shielding his partners so that they could continue on with their fraud against society.
-His blatant and utter hypocrisy as he raged day after day about his religious beliefs and high morals, while delving into homosexuality, drugs, alcohol and possibly underage sex while supposedly being a mentor to young boys in his church group.
Yes, the DA could go on and on as he parades the ghosts of Joey's past in front of the jury who will hold his future in their hands. Might be worth a bag of popcorn and a seat in the back of the room, huh?
Juries usually make their decision the first day of trial. Not to say their minds can't be changed, but with the dirt they have on Joey, I don't think that will happen. It also doesn't help that the DA gets to present their case first, and they also get the final word in the closing arguments. I'm pretty sure they will put Joey's entire life on trial, and they will destroy his character in the eyes of the jury. Let this be a lesson to people who are assholes and do bad things. Someday you might get in trouble and your actions of your past could help decide the fate of your future.
ReplyDeleteright, and this is my point, I dont think they really need to do this to get the conviction. Its that they GET to do it. Joey spent his entire life trying to make a name for himself, now they are going to use his entire life to make his name.
ReplyDelete90 percent of criminal cases are plea bargained...
ReplyDeleteHis entire "adult life" is one who still behaved like a teenager. Can't wait for the spin doctors to squirm when he is on trial. All of his staunch supporters will be backpedaling in a sprint. The real loons will hold onto some "conspiracy" as to why he is in jail. Anyone want to bet that he makes a deal?
ReplyDeleteWhoever admin is over at ECO, they recently said they will be reposting old articles from backups. I would like to warn them to be careful what articles they restore. As it was before the site went down, Joey was the sole person liable for posting the more slanderous and libel articles. But by making a conscious effort to restore such articles will only implement yourself in any legal actions that may come down the road for the ECO. By treading carefully in what articles you restore, it at very least will conserve some of your deniability.
ReplyDeleteJust some friendly advice.
That's a good point. I wonder who it is posting over there and if they know what they are doing
ReplyDeleteTrue but Joey might have boxed himself in to fighting this all the way. After he proclaims his innocence on the Eco and then on wfaa and with more charges on deck in Ellis county he might figure what the hell let's go down swinging
ReplyDeleteWhat's he got to deal with? Malicious gossip? Government agencies aren't silent with regard to Joey's posts because they are scared of him or what he "knows" - they are ignoring him. He's no more irritating to them than pimple on their behinds. And, he popped himself. Maybe Navarro County did a smart thing to call in the Rangers to make sure the investigation and prosecution is fair, so as to avoid the appearance and accusation of a "conspiracy" . Boogles my mind that there are folks out there that really think what Joey says and does is important enough that law enforcement agencies in 3 counties have worked together set him up.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping Joey fights to the bitter end, I want to see/hear the evidence. But, I'm betting resolution will be anti-climatic and I'll be curious forever - he'll plead guilty to a lesser charge.
Re: all his other activities - they will be irrelevant in a trial for the Navarro charges. But if found guilty, the DA may be able present some of Joey's history to a jury during the punishment phase to push for a harsh sentence.
Hopefully someone with some sense.
ReplyDeleteOdds are high...extremely high against that existing over there.
ReplyDeleteActually, I think his "activities" would be used to push for a lessor sentence. Just sayin...you all think he's this horrible monster. But even Gingersnap has pointed out to you over and over again - he was held back in school, he failed over and over again at many things he tried to do, and he seems like a kid.
ReplyDeleteHe's sympathetic to most. But I can understand why some posting here wouldn't see it that way.
What activities can that psycho have that would push for a reduced sentence? Posting threats online? Making threats online? Trying to ruin innocent lives for no reason other than to seek attention and come up with some lame ass excuse for his own behavior? He made his bed and now he has to sleep in it. If there are more charges from nearby counties, I would like to think the DA would laugh him back into his cell.
ReplyDeleteI think the some that feel sympathy or profess that he is the victim of some cover-up, are individuals that have part of their own asses in the ringer for associating with him. It should be interesting what new charges there are if they do exist.
I don't have sympathy for him because I was associated with him. I was a "victim" of his stuff he did. But saying that all those posting on his web or all those parents needing help were stupid and lame and liars and whatnot doesn't cut it with me.
ReplyDeleteI think people that have encountered injustice within "the system" can have sympathy for him. Not for what he did to a kid - if he did have sex with that kid. But for how "the system" uses its immense power against those that dissent.
And Joey was dumb enough, brave enough, rash enough, or mean enough - whatever you want to call it - to give people another outlet to voice their pain in dealing with injustices...or at least perceived injustices.
I wasn't referring to you at all. Sorry if it was taken that way.
ReplyDeleteAlso, as much as it is to have an outlet to voice their pain, that outlet can also be manipulated into a tool for destruction.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you wrote this, Nothingbettertodotoday. It is exactly what I have been thinking for the last year.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Integrity. What good has Joey accomplished? A learning disability (or whatever the affliction) is not an excuse for making stuff up for the sole purpose of disrupting people's lives so you'll look like a hero. It's not the giving people a voice that's caused his problems. I don't view Joey as a horrible monster, I'm just not sympathetic. He is responsible for his actions: he hurt people close to me for no reason other than it served him in some way. All of his arrests are because he did or was suspected of doing something that was against the law. The arrests have nothing to do with his blogs.
ReplyDeleteI am very supportive of law enforcement, in fact some of family and best friends are cops. But, I've been a victim (twice, while minding my own business) of unethical cops in Ellis County and a corrupt system that extended right up to a Municpal and a Precinct Judge. But, I worked within the system, quietly, to resolve my issues with the officers' superiors and in higher courts. I won both times and I managed to say everything I wanted to say to the cops and the judges without being arrested, it wasn't necessary to post lies on a blog. Joey's approach was to antagonize the cops by making stuff up and/or twisting the truth - that's not ballsy or helpful, it was cowardly and it was wrong.
Joey gave up an opportunity to accomplish something good for society because he showed no interest in telling the truth.
@ Curious: Thank you. I was beginning to think I was all by myself out here.
ReplyDeleteGinger I know who wrote the story on John Margetis and who had it removed. You might want to go look at what I have posted. http://thebutlerpress.wordpress.com/2012/01/25/i-know-more-now-about-the-eco/
ReplyDeleteVery interesting....everyone should go check out Curtis' blog for a little bit of info and an interesting take. Curtis brings up, amoung other things, something Brandy alluded to on here, that being that Joey is bringing charges against Brandy.
ReplyDelete@ ECO Sucks: case in point. Here's a quote from the letter on Curtis' blog "To their credit, the Margetis have bough this news department lunch, dinner, transported us around"
ReplyDeleteIt appears, whether true or not, Joey will print anything you like about somebody else as long as you feed him, spend time driving around with him or give him money. Didn't I read somewhere that Joey admitted to being paid by one cop to print an ugly story about another cop?
If this is true, who did Joey help? Where's the apology to the Midlothian cops, who appear to be wrongly accused?
To your credit, you gave me food for thought. There have been 2 issues in which Joey and I see eye to eye. One is a matter important only to history buffs, it's how I found Joey in the first place. The other was with regard to a person we both felt should not be a cop. That person is no longer a cop, but Joey had nothing to do with it.
Yeah, I never thought you were aiming anything you were saying at me. I mean Joey and ECO were laughing at the pain I was going through. Literally, laughing it up. They were being bullies. But I am just saying that they didn't cause me as much pain as those within the system have. Joey and them were causing me some humiliation and such, but they weren't filing malicious claims in court or calling the police or cps or trying to take my child from me - conspiring with my ex,etc. The blog stuff was nothing compared to everything else. So I guess I am just saying that I don't think Joey's damages compare at all to the damages that people in the system can wreak.
ReplyDeleteJoey could NEVER admit to being wrong. That was one thing that bothered me. However, toward the end there - he finally did with me. Maybe that made me feel better about him personally. I don't know. Maybe he was just trying to mend fences while he still had time.
ReplyDeleteI would be scared to get paid by someone to smear another like Joey did. I do think he did some of that. But from what I saw, he wanted to make sure it was truthful stuff. He just was too busy or too lazy to dig much into it. I saw him say to Meissner - "it better be true what you are saying or I will never work with you again." So it does seem that Joey cared for the truth. I just wish he would have spent more time investigating the stories fully.
Did anyone ever find out about the rumored Ellis County Indictment against Joey?
ReplyDeletethey havent filed them yet, but they are going to
