Jerry Sandusky Makes Statement, Decides to Employ the Joey DaubenDefense

I really can't make this stuff up any more. Tonight, Jerry Sandusky leaked part of his statement that he plans on making at his sentencing tomorrow. Someone tell me if you have heard this before:

"First, I looked at myself," Sandusky continued. "Over and over, I asked, why? Why didn't we have a fair opportunity to prepare for trial? Why have so many people suffered as a result of false allegations? What's the purpose? Maybe it will help others; some vulnerable children who could be abused, might not be because of all the publicity.

"That would be nice, but I'm not sure about it. I would cherish the opportunity to become a candle for others, as they have been a light for me. They could take away my life, they could make me out as a monster, they could treat me as a monster, but they can't take away my heart. In my heart, I know I did not do these alleged disgusting acts."

"A young man who was dramatic, a veteran accuser, and always sought attention, started everything," Sandusky said. "He was joined by a well-orchestrated effort of the media, investigators, the system, Penn State, psychologists, civil attorneys and other accusers.

"They won. I've wondered what they really won: Attention, financial gain, prestige … will all be temporary. Before you blame me, as others have, look at everything and everybody. Look at the preparation for the trial and the trial. Compare it to others. Think about what happened. Why, and who made it happen?"

Evaluate the accusers and their families," he said. "Realize they didn't come out of isolation. The accusers were products of many more people and experiences than me. Look at their confidants and their honesty.

"Think about how easy it was for them to turn on me given the information, attention and potential perks. I never labeled or put down them or their families. I tried and I cared, then asked for the same. Please realize all came to the Second Mile because of issues. Some of those may remain."

"It will take more than our effort," he said. "Justice will have to be more than just a word; fairness more than just a dream. It will take others: somebody apolitical with the courage to listen, to think about the unfairness, to have the guts to stand up and take the road less traveled. I ask for the strength to handle everything and willingness to surrender only to God, regardless of the outcome."

So while Presley is hanging with her "Scissor Sister" Connie while Bill Windsor is explaining to them how doing a lesbian adult film is the best way to fight judicial injustice, I think the best last name for her is to skip the Tuma and Dauben names and just go straight to her ultimate idol. Lets just call her Presley Sandusky the ultimate example of the falsely accused.

  1. Presley Sandusky! Has a nice ring.

So Mr Creepy words stand out to me.

    1) ..."some vulnerable children who could be abused, might not be because of all the publicity."

and while you don't have the entire statement Ginger...

    2) My wife has been my only sex partner that was after marriage.

In #1, it sounds like Sandusky is horribly disappointed that due to the publicity, some children didn't 'get' to be abused. I read and re-read that this morning and that's how I read it. HE is angry at the publicity and all the missed future opportunities.

#2 - clearly Sandusky thinks being a pedophile and raping children is equivalent to having a 'sex' partner. For him to make this statement given the context of what this is about, he doesn't see him raping children as abuse more like 'having' a sexual partner.

I believe Joey feels like that as well with the "then" 15 yr old child. That it was merely sex between two consenting people and regardless of the Texas criminal code definition of child sexual assault, Joey did what he wanted. Now Joey and his family screams corruption because of Joey's very warped thinking (ala Sandusky style).

Like Ginger said, the kid on Sixth sense.... It amazes me how people like Presley Sandusky and Connie brain-Tuma see pedophiles every where they look but those who they know intimately.

  2. What Sandusky said in court today was truly chilliing, he flat out said, with several of the abused in attendance, that he would cherish ALL his memories with the kids and no one can take that away from him. It was one last little power play over his boys, he was saying I'm going to be reliving those moments in my mind till I die and there is nothing you can do about it. This is like what Joey was doing through his stupid father by saying that his accusor is just a foster kid, no one should listen or take them seriously.

  3. I'm curious to read Joey's '30 year guilty sentence speech'. Anyone have a pre-sentence copy yet? I'm certain it exists.

Sandusky plays the big ole dumb kid yet look at his professional accomplishments. Like you mention, he knew exactly what he was saying and it was to take the last hit. Maybe he'll be given a big ole roomie who will teach him the ways of the world in prison. Chimo's tend to lose a lot of weight. Wonder why?

  4. the problem with the big ole roomie wish is I think both Jerry and Joey would like it.

  6. Second, I think Joey and Sandusky both feel what they did wasn't wrong. They both thing child predators are horrible, but they don't see themselves as such. They think they have some special relationship. These kids are different. They are more mature. Pedophiles feed on children. They don't see the people they are with as children because they are sick in the head.

Sorry, cut that short & took a little longer posting because I'm on a conference call. Ick.

This is a well written article about his statement.

The main take away from this one is that Sandusky is basically saying, you can lock me up, but I still have the memories. Effectively, he'll be raping those boys over and over in his head from his jail cell, and he wants the men that they've become to know it. He wants them right along side him reliving the abuse in their own heads. He gets some sick pleasure out of continuing the pain.

Gingersnap, you are absolutely right on this being the Dauben Defense. This is exactly what Joey did with that "press release" when he was originally arrested. Joey is playing the exact same mind games with his victim.

    I feel dirty now.

When I heard Sandusky’s statement, it was déjà vu. It all sounded so familiar, conspiracies, blaming the victims, martyrdom, complete denial of the truth, etc, etc – sounds just like our little kid, Joey.

The Dan Wetzel article was great, insightful and mindful of the effect the statement had on the victims. I’m glad somebody acknowledged their pain. I’d bet the victims would have liked, but weren’t expecting, an apology from Sandusky. But to continue the emotional abuse with the mind games was outrageous. I think Sandusky’s right to free speech should have been revoked once the verdict was rendered, just like his right to vote.

I have to disagree with Gingersnap on the Prelsey name thing. I think she should have full credit for all of her choices, Presley Renae Skye Dauben Tuma Sandusky. Has sort of a royal ring……not in a Monarch kind of way though…………more like, a royal dumb a$$.
